About

Amanda R. Fairchild is a freelance Young Adult Speculative fiction writer, Teachers Pay Teachers author, and English teacher who lives on the outskirts of Los Angeles in the Mojave Desert. She has a degree in English Literature from Colorado Mesa University and is working on a Master’s in Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University. She spends most of her working hours teaching, creating lesson plans, and working with her students. In return, they provide her with endless inspiration and daily laughs.

Amanda’s passion for writing and teaching intersects in her blog as she creates posts about fiction and nonfiction writing for budding authors as well as resources and curriculum for teachers to use in the classroom. Her favorite topic to teach in high school English (which also happens to be one of her favorite topics to write on) is the dystopian novel and its commentary on today’s society. The question she poses to her students is “how can we maintain our humanity in an inhumane world?” This is the question that she asks both her high school students as well as the readers of her fiction. These themes of humanity vs monstrosity can be seen in her own writing as a YA Speculative fiction author.

She spends most of her free time working on her new Young Adult series and creating designing games.
