My name is Amanda R. Fairchild. I am a writer and teacher, but I haven’t always been. Well, I suppose I’ve always been a writer, but the teaching part is fairly new.
Before I was a teacher I was a(n):
- Nursing Assistant
- Home Health Provider
- Lifeguard
- CrossFit Owner (x2)
- Olympic Weight Lifting Trainer
- Assistant Manager at a fast food chain
- Theater Camp Director
- Janitor at a hospital cleaning Operating Rooms
- Door to door pest control salesperson
- Cowgirl (yes, but I preferred the term Wrangler)
And these are only a few of the jobs that I’ve had up until this point. When I was young, I always imagined myself as a writer and teacher but it was a long and twisty road getting here. Now that I’m here and I’m finally in the job that I love, I decided to start a blog about it and create a space to exchange ideas and to be inspired by one another’s creativity. As we all know teaching is not a solitary profession, and from what I’ve found writing shouldn’t be either (though we all start out thinking otherwise). So let’s chat!
